SYNOPSIS

It is increasingly difficult for Jacques, doctor and mayor of Saint-Laurent, to protect his village from desertification. The day when the village’s one-room schoolhouse is about to close, the prefecture gives him an ultimatum: his only and unlikely solution is to host refugees and their children.

The inhabitants are deeply divided: some are enthusiastic, and others are hostile to their mayor's guests. But living with Hassan, Yana or Nassim makes them change their minds progressively... Until Jacques discovers that a couple pretending to be refugees is actually illegal immigrants.
