1974. In the coves of Marseille, two young Belgian tourists were assaulted and raped by three men.
At the time, rape was just a misdemeanor. For four years, these two women and their lawyers are going to fight to bring their assailants in front of the Circuit Court of Aix en Provence.
They will ask twice the Criminal Court of Marseille to declare itself incompetent, in a period of time where it was inconceivable.
Thanks to Gisèle Halimi, lawyer and feminist, their trial is finally going to be open in front of the Circuit Court and, for the first time, rape is recognized as a crime.
This film tells the story of these two women at the center of a fight made of pain and bravery. It also highlights the conflict between lawyers, the private party and the defense, and shows the strong fundamental beliefs of the French society during the 70’s.
A l’époque le viol n’est qu’un délit correctionnel. Grace à Gisèle Halimi, avocate de la cause féministe, leur procès va finalement s’ouvrir aux assises.
Pour la première fois, le viol devient enfin un crime.
